Jen Gleason-How Wearable Technology is Revolutionizing Classroom Learning

When reading this article, I couldn't help to think about a class that I recently took and its connection to Wearable Technology. In this class I read about the evolution of the Internet.(Articles above) In the articles I read, the internet was first named Web 1.0 a "static information dump where people read websites but rarely interacted with them." (Nations) Today, Web 2.0 is in full swing, an "interactive socialweb facilitating collaboration between people." (Nations) Outside and inside the professional settings Web 2.0 connects "with other people who can put anything they want online." (Nations). This has lead to a "more social, collaborative, interactive and responsive web." (Nations) The next logical step is the transition to Web 3.0, which isn't fully understood and defined yet. It is suggested in the readings that Artificial Intelligence (AI) may be a component of Web 3.0.  According to Nation's article "Is Web 3.0 really a Thing?" this may be a sign of Web 3.0 and how AI can "pick apart the important components of your speech and then follow your commands, like to make a reminder." I mention these points because Wearable Technology will fall into the Web 3.0 era. I see Wearable Technology as having the potential to really interact with the human being. For example, the brain sensing headband sounds pretty sophisticated in how technology can interact with the human brain. Or the Google expeditions that can take you to another place virtually. Maybe these Wearables will be a huge component of defining Web 3.0.

  1. Everything you are writing about the history of the internet brought me back to college. I remember being in a dorm room and waiting for the dial up to connect so I could go online and read articles but as you said never did i think i would having conversations back and forth with someone at the time.

  2. It's crazy how the technology in our world changes. I'm always amazed at what will come out next! Will we be taken over by robots?!!

  3. Technology sure is changing, and it seems that it is changing exponentially! When I graduated from high school my father truly wanted me to get into computers. He said it was the way of the future. Wow....if only I had listened to him back then! I did take a beginner's course in "computers", but back then it was language writing classes, that was it! I took a BASIC course. Then it was something that only scientists and mathematicians really understood. love math and I love science, but really??? I had to drop FAIL because the information about coding just did not penetrate this brain. You can imagine, my dad was not very happy with me. ;-)

  4. I wonder what other changes will occur within the next year due to the pandemic. Will companies jump on the remote learning bandwagon and come up with more apps/ programs to change educaiton.
