Angela ~ 20 Things You Can Do In (About) Ten Minutes For a Smoother Running Classroom
At this time in my career, I feel that my instruction has become routine and complacent. (I'm about 3 years from retirement). In this article, the suggestions to utilize in the classroom are essential and really piqued my interest. Many of them have already been incorporated into the daily routine, but many are reminders of how these need to continue to be incorporated and revised along the way. It's great to refresh that motivation for myself as well as the students!
I really like the idea of having a parent sign-up sheet during our orientation to invite the parents into the class as a guest speaker. We are all very busy so the use of SKYPE or ZOOM for a guest speaker would be an awesome way to incorporate our busy, professional, parents while providing a bit of variety to the class. Not only will these ideas
help my own motivation but it will help the entire class stay organized and the class running a bit more efficiently.
I love that you were inspired to change something you do while teaching. I feel that way when I feel like my students are in a rut and that I need to do something new to make us all feel better about learning. I love your idea of incorporating parents, but as a suggestion, you could probably include all different kinds of people who would be willing to help out since we're all being quarantined.
ReplyDeleteGreat point Jeannine in regards to including all kinds of people. With zoom we have the ability to easily reach out to so many more people and while parents is a great starting point it can go even further.
DeleteUtilizing the parents as speakers is such a great idea. We have many professionals who have so much to share with our students.
ReplyDeleteCool idea to bring parents in. Having people who can discuss their careers with kids is a great way to change things up
