3. 25 Things Successful Teachers Do Differently

https://www.teachthought.com/pedagogy/25-things-successful-teachers-do-differently/

I always love when articles have lists because as I go through them I think about the things on the list that matter most to me.  I will highlight the ones I find most significant and the first one is that successful teachers have a positive attitude.  I think so people overlook this one especially as we get older and become more “veteran” as teachers.  Attitude is everything and your students will feed off of your vibe / attitude so regardless of what you are teaching make sure you are coming across as someone with a positive outlook and you will have success.  Successful teachers are consistent and take risks again I think both things are important.  I want to develop a routine with my classes so as the year goes on they know what to expect from me.  I also reflect on what I am teaching unit to unit as sometimes an activity that worked last year with a group won’t fit with the current class of kids and I need to take a look at all the factors and make a decision based upon what I think is best for the group.

  1. I definitely agree with you, Dom, about sometimes overlooking the necessity for a positive attitude when teaching our students, especially as we become "veteran" teachers. We can become complacent and students truly pick up on our moods and disposition.

  2. You are both spot on about emotion and having a positive attitude. We can't forget to have a positive attitude because they will respond to that.
