Wearable Technology in the Classroom: What's Available and What does it do?

This was a very informative article and it gave me several ideas to implement in my classroom.  One of my classes is Western Civilization and we often talked about architecture and art.  The ability to use Google Cardboard to take virtual field trips to the Parthenon, the Colosseum, Versailles and many other places we learn about sounds like an affordable and fun activity to make history come alive.
Autographer and Narrative Clips sound like cool programs that allow students to create slideshows or highlight reels of their school day and could be used to record their progress on collaborative projects.  Muse although very expensive would be a cool thing to use to measure brain waves during sleep.  I could use this during our units on the brain and consciousness in psychology.
The author mentions that technology can be distracting and it is very expensive but these programs look like they could be very helpful to increase 21st Century Learning skills.

  1. I had the same thoughts buddy. The next time we can actually be in the building together lets me an effort to actually act on this idea.

  2. I fell in love with Google Expeditions when I was reading and responding about the articles. Virtual trips anywhere, and literally endless are just an amazing way to educate kids. The ability to move through the world for endless ways to explore is just awesome! Having had a bit of personal travel experience, I have always felt the need to expand everyone's horizons, not only in the educational field, but just in expansion of our own minds. I know there are many people that just don't want to travel. What an awesome way to travel just sitting in your own living room!

  3. I should really take a few history classes. I missed out when I was in school when I was not at all interested. If I found classes using these products, I sure would sign up.

  4. I agree with you 100% about how these tools could be so helpful when teaching, especially with you and going places all around the world. It's one thing to talk about it, it's a whole other thing to actually feel like you're there.
