36 Ways to use Wearable Technology in the Classroom"
Google Glass looks like a winner and could be helpful to teach students in many ways. This article really helped open my eyes to what can be done with this technology. Some of the ideas are not applicable for my class but many did. I liked the idea of using Glass as a way to take pictures and videos while keeping one's hands free which sounds like a great idea. Students won't have to carry a camera and can use their hands to do other things such as direct students in a video, pick objects up and record them , and allows for lots of movement and freedom. I could also have students make and edit presentations and go on live field trips to places that might be too costly to do because of cost and other issues. I also like the idea that if a class does go on a field trip the teacher can keep track of their students' locations. I also like the ideas of how it can be used remotely which would be a huge help with what we are dealing with today.
From what you and Jeanine are saying it seems like Google Glass is something administration can use with the teachers and something that teachers can use with students so hopefully we can incorporate it into our classrooms in the near future.
ReplyDeleteI like the idea of having the availability of Google Glass for use in the schools, especially for administrative uses from what I have determined. This may work for a program like mine, but HIPAA is so huge when in a medical arena that I feel it wouldn't benefit our use as we walk through clinical experiences while in a hospital setting. I think virtual tours, etc. are going to be more conducive when we are discussing privacy issues.
ReplyDeleteThe remote use is such a great feature, especially like you said in times like this when learning is online. Angela, I agree that HIPAA would not allow for us to use this, but boy it would be ideal.
ReplyDeleteI read up on the Google Glass and didn't think about the idea of having a hands-free experience. And the field trips making you feel like if you reach out you could actually touch the objects in front of you. So cool!
