10 Characteristics Of A Highly Effective Learning Environment

This article reinforced some of the learning I believe is happening (or at least I think is happening) in my classroom environment. I want my students to ask questions. I want them to ask questions that I may not even know the answer to. The subject that I teach has awkward, sensitive, and embarrassing content, this is an area that is hard to achieve. I do offer a question box that students can ask anonymously. The box is usually empty.  I may have to try using technogly, where they can ask from home and still be anonymous.

Since my subject area is always changing, many times I do not have the answers and I let the students know when I do not know the answer. At times we can find the information together or I will try to find the answer by the time I see that student again.

I agree the learning should be personalized, yet I find it so hard to do with the number of students that I teach. Also, I try to use a variety of teaching styles, but I know I fall back to the style that fits my learning. This is an area that I need to work on.

I think using technology and maybe even wearables, different styles can be met at the same time.

There are many different views or sources that defend or confirm facts that add a great value to teaching.Using many credible sources allows students to see all sides of something or see the importance from many angles. To me, this is very important. When somone has all the information (the pros, then cons, and all the facts) it allows them to make their own educated decision on that matter/topic.

I am lucky enough to say that my content area does relate to real life. I think the issue is that the age group does not always understand or see how the information relates to them right now in their lives. Hopefully, technology and wearables can help close the gap.
